Chandigarh A person associated with Pakistani intelligence agencies was allegedly preparing as ‘his contact’, arrested on charges of espionage. This information was given by a senior police officer from Haryana on Sunday. Addressing media persons in Hisar, Haryana, the official said that Jyoti Malhotra was allegedly in touch with a Pakistani officer posted at Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi during a four -day military conflict between India and Pakistan after a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam. Hisar Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan said that Malhotra did not have a direct access to any information related to military or defense operations, but she was directly in touch with people associated with Pakistani intelligence agencies. SP Sawan said, “Certainly, he was preparing him as his ‘contact’. He was in touch with other ‘influencers’ active on YouTube. He was also in touch with persons associated with Pakistani intelligence agencies.” He said, “This is also a (kind) war, in which they try to pursue their plans by connecting the influencer with them.” Police said that Malhotra (33), a resident of Hisar, runs a YouTube channel called ‘Travel with Joe’. Police said that Malhotra was arrested from New Agrasen Extension on Friday. Police said that a case has been registered against Malhotra under the official secrecy Act and related sections of the Indian Justice Code. Malhotra was sent to police custody for five days after being produced in court on Saturday. SP Sawan told reporters that Haryana Police is questioning Malhotra. He said, “We are analyzing her financial transactions, travel details, where she went and from whom.” He said that the police is also in touch with central agencies. The official said that Malhotra was in touch with people associated with Pakistani intelligence agencies and has traveled to Pakistan and once ‘many times’. When asked about any information about Malhotra’s activities during the Pahalgam terror attack, and whether he was in touch with the Pakistani officer posted at the Pakistani High Commission during the operation vermilion, the SP said that during (India-Pakistan) struggle, he was in touch with people and the person associated with the Pakistani intelligence agencies and the person who was declared an untouchable person. ” He said, “We will do forensic analysis of his laptop and other electronic equipment. After this it will be clear what information he shared.” India expelled the Pakistani officer working in the High Commission on 13 May due to alleged indulging in espionage. The official while answering a question said that many teams of financial experts are analyzing Malhotra’s financial transactions and travel details. According to the FIR lodged at the Civil Lines Police Station on 16 May, Malhotra came into contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish at the Pakistan High Commission in 2023, where she went to take a visa to visit the neighboring country. The FIR states that Malhotra had traveled to Pakistan twice and met Ali Ahwan, an acquaintance of Danish, who had arranged for his stay there. It said that Malhotra met Danish several times at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi and it has been found that she was in touch with people associated with Pakistani intelligence agencies.
