According to which there will be no need to pass the teacher eligibility test i.e. TET exam to become TGT-PGT teacher in the state. The Assam government has taken this decision. According to which the government will now conduct TET cum recruitment examination for the recruitment of PGT and TGT teachers in secondary schools. Through this, the government wants to ensure that the teachers are eligible in the related subject. It is worth noting that to become a teacher, it is necessary to pass the teacher eligibility test. But in Assam, graduate and post graduate teachers have been exempted from the eligibility test, which was earlier mandatory. In this regard, the Education Minister tweeted that, ‘The cabinet has decided that TET will not be required for graduate and post graduate teachers of secondary schools. TET cum recruitment examination will be conducted for secondary schools. The number of successful candidates will be equal to vacancy. Before the examination, TET examination was conducted on April 30 for the recruitment of lower primary and upper primary teachers in Assam.
