South indian sambar recipe in hindi: Sambhar is a dish that everyone likes to everyone from children. It is considered the life of the kitchen of South India. The ingredients required to make sambar are as follows-

  • Arhar Dal – 1 Cup
  • Water – 3 cups (to cook lentils)
  • Sambhar Masala – 2 tablespoons (you can buy it from the shop)
  • Tamarind pulp – about 1 tsp or as much as a small lemon juice (if you want, soak a small lemon as much tamarind in water and take out its pulp)
  • Mustard grains – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry Leaf-8-10 leaves
  • Asafoetida – 1 pinch
  • Dry red chili – 2
  • Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Clicked vegetables like okra, pumpkin, brinjal, carrots, tomatoes, drumsticks, gourd, etc. – 1.5 cups

Method of preparation step by step is as follows-

  • 1. First wash the dal of pigeonpea and add 3 cups of water, turmeric and a little oil in the cooker and cook it well in 3-4 whistles.
  • 2. After this, now mash the lentils well and keep it aside.
  • 3. Soak tamarind in half a cup of lukewarm water and then take out the pulp.
  • 4. Heat a little oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, asafetida, curry leaves and dry chili and apply tempering.
  • 5. Now add chopped vegetables to it and fry well on medium flame for 5 minutes.
  • 6. Then add tamarind water and cook for 5-7 minutes so that rawness goes away. The taste came out well.
  • 7. Now add mashed lentils and sambar masala. Also add salt according to taste.
  • 8. Allow the entire mixture to cook on low flame for 10-12 minutes so that the taste is mixed well. After this your tasty sambar will be ready.
