The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to call the Pakistani army’s ‘action’ action in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir to call the ‘tragedy’ (tragedy) and alleged that he was spraying salt on the wounds of firing victims from across the border and giving Islamabad ‘cover’ to Islamabad. The BJP alleged that Rahul Gandhi is more suitable for the role of “Leader of Pakistani propaganda” than the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and asked the Congress leader to stop doing “humor in the name of tragedy”. Gandhi met the victims of shelling from across the border by Pakistani soldiers in Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. He described the damage caused by shelling as a “big tragedy” and resolved to raise the agony of the victims at the national level. Expressing serious objection to the Congress leader’s remarks, BJP national spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala said, “Rahul Gandhi said in his statement that what happened in Poonch was a tragedy. Rahul Gandhi (Pakistani Army) terrorist acts are calling a tragic act as a tragic act.” He told reporters here that the whole country is shocked and disturbed by his comment. The BJP spokesperson said that the Pakistani Army fired bullets with its “terrorist mentality” and killed unarmed innocent citizens at other places including Poonch. He told that he also opened fire on the gurudwara and the devotees worshiping there. Poonawala alleged, “Rahul Gandhi is engaged in a tapoti, calling the terrorist act a tragic act.” He said, “You have sprinkled salt on our wounds.” The BJP spokesperson alleged that the Congress and the Gandhi family had given “cover fire” to the criminal activities of Pakistan. He said, “The Congress convicted Hindutva for the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, by giving a clean chit to Pakistan in the Samjhauta Express blast case, calling it ‘Hindutva terrorism’, Randeep Surjewala (Congress leader) gave a clean chit to Pakistan by calling Pulwama terrorist attack an internal conspiracy and domestic terrorists.” Poonawala alleged that last month, within 24 hours of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Rahul Gandhi’s family member and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband Robert Vadra had blamed it on Hindutva.
