Pahalgam Attack: Local people hover out livelihood crisis, now Amarnath Yatra is hopeful

Date:

Pahalgam A month after a fierce terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam in South Kashmir, the livelihood of the local people is facing a crisis. Here the terrorists who carried out the attack on tourists are away from the grip of the security forces, but a comprehensive campaign is being carried out for their arrest. Local people now have expectations from the upcoming Amarnath Yatra to compensate their livelihood. Officials said on Thursday that several top terrorists have been killed in various campaigns launched after the horrific attack on Basaron Maidan on 22 April, but (Basaron) is out of the grip of terrorist security forces who carried out the murder. On April 22, terrorists entered the beautiful Basaron Maidan in Pahalgam and shot and killed 25 tourists and a local person trying to save them. Although the exact number of these terrorists has not been ascertained, sources have said that there were four to six terrorists. —— Polls Module would be displayed here- Initial investigation has revealed that the terrorists found out their religion by asking these tourists to read ‘Kalma’ and then shot and killed them. Officials said that the security forces are running an unnatural campaign to arrest these terrorists. A senior police officer said, “They may have been successful in dodging the security forces till now, but it will not take long to catch them.” In this connection, the security system started a large scale action to search for the criminals of the massacre, under which thousands of suspects were called for questioning in Kashmir, while hundreds of people were detained. About 100 people were booked under the Public Safety Act and were put in various jails. There are reports that security forces have also detained those youths who have already been serving a jail sentence due to being associated with terrorism. Meanwhile, people living in Pahalgam and surrounding areas are counting their loss due to the absence of tourists. Tour operator Nasir Ahmed said, “This place looks deserted. Thousands of tourists used to come to Pahalgam every day, causing livelihood opportunities to all including shopkeepers, roadside goods, pony, taxi drivers and hotel businessmen. He said, “In the worst phase, we used to host local visitors (Kashmiris), who supported the economy. However, this time the local visitors are not coming even. ”Shopkeeper Mohammad Irshad said that the situation is becoming disappointing for the livelihoods of tourism. He said, “The government will have to do something. People have not earned a single money last month. This cannot run like this for a long time.” Now the local people hope that the Amarnath Yatra starting from July 3 will change their fate. Tattuwale Sabzar Ahmed said, “We hope that Amarnath pilgrims will help change the perception about Pahalgam. It was a sad and unfortunate incident, but it is not the identity of Kashmir. We are guests and dwellers and respect our guests very much.” He said that since security is always tight during the journey, regular Hindu devotees can eventually break this trend and come to travel.
