After Pakistan’s radar was detected, IAF launched aerial and missile attacks, targeting about a dozen Pakistani airbase including Sargodha, Murid and Chaklala. The major assets destroyed in the Indian attacks included air traffic control tower, radar dome, communication center and runway. The most damage to Pakistan was due to the destruction of the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft. Retired Pakistani Air Marshal Masood Akhtar later confirmed on the Pakistani media that an AWACS aircraft was destroyed in the attacks. The use of dummy jet not only helped to weaken Pakistan’s radar and missile shield, but also created confusion among those who planned their army. Pakistani fighter jets flew in several directions in response to ghost targets, while the real Indian strike teams destroyed their desired targets with accuracy.
