Everyone is surprised to hear the story of a UK woman living in pain for 10 years. Julie Kolman of Glasgow, who is now 33 years old, never thought that her back and foot pain is due to a dangerous tumor. In 2014, when she was pregnant with her son, she felt severe pain and tingling for the first time. Doctors described it as a cycle, a common disease in which the vein from the spine to the feet is suppressed. “This pain will go after the child’s birth,” doctors assured. But rather than the pain decreased, which made Julie’s life difficult. Julie said, “I was told that it is a cytica, and there is no use of scanning because back surgery is very dangerous. I met different doctors of the same practice, but everyone said the same. I felt that this pain is now part of my life.” For the next 10 years, Julie repeatedly went to her GP, complaining of sharp pain in her legs but every time she was given only painkillers and physiotherapy. Everyday work, such as child care or housework, became mountains for them. “I had lost confidence in my doctors,” Julie told The Independent. In 2022, numbness started in his right leg, which gradually increased, but even then there was no serious investigation. Opened from MRI, in November 2024, a new physiotherapist referred Julie to MRI scan. This scan, which took place at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow on 24 December, was about to change Julie’s life. On the eve of the New Year, his physiotherapist called and told that the scan has seen “changes” in his spine. On 9 January 2025, neurosurgeon at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital got the entire spine and head mRI. On the same day, Julie came to know that a big tumor is increasing in her spine, which was the cause of her pain for the last 10 years. “I was completely surprised, because I was repeatedly saying something is wrong,” Julie said. Surgery was earned but… Doctors said that the tumor, called Schwannoma, is cancer -free, but it had already damaged their nerves. If it was not removed, there was a danger of complete paralysis in future. On 28 January 2025, Julie underwent surgery, in which most of the tumor was removed. The surgery was successful, but the damage caused to the veins did not return. Julie came to know in the hospital that she had a spinal cord injury, and there is no sensation below her right knee. “Some parts on my feet and stomach are completely numb. Most of the pain was in my right leg, so there was the most damage,” Julie said. Doctors say that it may take up to two years to find out whether their sensation will return. After returning home on February 18, Julie runs from a gimber frame and uses wheelchairs for long distances. “I have worked very hard, and now I can walk on the crutches from the door of my house to the car. For a longer distance I want a wheelchair,” he said. Julie used to work for Alzheimer’s Scotland earlier, but now she is starting a remote customer service job. Her life has changed, but she is not giving up. Julie and her fiancé Stephen, who are 35 years old, are about to get married in July. Julie told that her 10 -year -old son Connor will take him to the crutches and take it to Isle. “I never thought that I would marry like this, but I am happy that I am able to walk, even if I want Baisakhi,” Julie said. He has also launched a softest page for unexpected expenses from his condition, which has so far raised £ 225 (about Rs 25,300). Julie’s story is on social media, Julie’s story on social media has shocked people. People are surprised as to why they were not investigated for 10 years. One user wrote, “This is the terrible negligence of the doctors! Salute to Julie’s courage.” Others praised the preparations for their wedding, “Even after so much pain, they are ready for marriage, this is an inspiration.” Many people appealed to donate on the goofundami, “Julie and her family need our help.” Julie’s story not only shows the flaws of the medical system, but also brings out her courage and vivacity.
There was pain in the back with 10 years, the doctors told the common disease, when MRI got it, then the woman’s senses flew!
