According to a senior official of the investigating agency, he escaped during the 2016 Nabha jail break in Punjab and was associated with foreign-based terrorists Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias ‘Rinda’. The NIA made this arrest in collaboration with Motihari police of Bihar. The arrest has been made in a case related to the Khalistani terror conspiracy. After absconding from Nabha jail, the accused Kashmir Singh became an important part of BKI and Rinda’s network in Nepal and continuously involved in anti -India activities. According to the NIA, the role of Kashmir Singh has been in giving shelter, logistic assistance and funding to terrorists who carried out terrorist activities in India. He was wanted in NIA Case Number RC 37/2022/NIA/DLI. Which includes incidents like RPG attack at Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters. The NIA had filed this case in August 2022 taking self -cognizance. In which terrorist activities of banned organizations like Babbar Khalsa International, Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) are being investigated.
