‘Neither murder nor drug mafia’, SC granted bail to former trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar

Trainee IAS Puja Khedkar: The Supreme Court has granted anticipatory bail to former trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar on Wednesday (May 21, 2025). The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is accused of cheating Khedkar to take reservation from OBC and disabled quota to pass the examination. The Supreme Court gave relief to Pooja Khedkar and said that she can be released on a personal bond of 35 thousand rupees. Apart from this, the apex court also questioned the order of the Delhi High Court of November 2024, in which he was denied bail. The High Court had said that prima facie Khedkar’s actions were done with the intention of cheating. She will cooperate in the investigation: The Supreme Court in its judgment rejected the claim of the investigating officers that Khedkar did not cooperate with the investigating officers. The apex court said that she would cooperate. Pooja Khedkar had approached the Supreme Court to challenge the High Court order. It is not necessary to keep in custody: Court Justice Biwi Nagratna said that he has not committed any murder. This is not NDPS (anti -Narcotics law) crime. She will cooperate. Earlier, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing by Delhi Police, had argued against the release of Khedkar that the police needed Pooja Khedkar’s constant custody to highlight the details of the conspiracy. The Supreme Court said that we have found that this is a scam in which people giving certificates can attend. We want to investigate whether it is a separate case or there are many such cases. The court said that from which source Khedkar gets a fake certificate, it should be revealed, but it is not necessary to keep him in custody.
