NEET UG is the exam through which admission is available in courses like medical, dental, Ayurveda, nursing. This time on 4 May 2025, more than 21 lakh students across the country took this examination, in which about 27,000 students appeared at 49 centers in Indore. In Indore, heavy rains and a storm of 100-120 km/h destroyed the power system. Electricity went to 11 to 24 centers. Candle burnt at some centers, there was no place in some places. The result was that the paper of many students got spoiled. Some returned without writing. The students say that this is a question of their life. Medical admission is his dream and due to power cuts, his year can be ruined. Therefore, many affected students, including a student, filed a petition in the High Court. Their demand is that either these centers are re -examination or any other solution should be found. What happened in court? 15 May 2025: Initially the Madhya Pradesh High Court had banned the NEET UG result of the entire country, because no lawyer from the central government reached the court. This was a big shock. The result of 21 lakh students got stuck. 16 May 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) argued in the court that it is not right to stop the results of the entire country due to the problem of some centers in Indore. The court obeyed him and allowed the results of other places to release the results except 11 affected centers in Indore. Also, sending notice to the power company and examination centers and sought a reply by 30 June 2025. What happened in the High Court today? 22 May 2025: Solicitor General Tushar Mehta took part in the court through video conferencing in Madhya Pradesh High Court. He suggested that a committee should be formed for the 24 affected centers of Indore, which should listen to the complaints of the students and decide whether there is re -examination or some other way out. The court set the next hearing on 26 May 2025 to consider this. What is the problem of students? More than 600 students have been affected at 11 to 24 centers in Indore. They say that giving paper in darkness or returning without giving paper is unfair to them. The petitioners’ counsel Mridul Bhatnagar said in the court that the Meteorological Department had already warned of thunderstorms, yet the power company and examination centers did not arrange a generator like backup. Students say that this is a violation of their constitutional rights. Their demand is clear either the examination, or justice with them. NTA and the power company’s argument NTA says that the results of the entire country cannot be stopped due to the problem of Indore, because this will make the future of millions of students at stake. At the same time, the power company and examination centers have to answer yet. The court has given them time till 30 June 2025. What will happen next? The next hearing will be held on 26 May 2025 in Madhya Pradesh Court, in which the court committee will consider suggestions like formation and re -examination.
