The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday announced the arrival of the southwest monsoon in some areas of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. The IMD said that ‘the southwest monsoon has moved forward on 13 May in the southern part of the Bay of Bengal, the southern part of the Andaman Sea, the Nicobar Islands and some parts of the Northern Andaman Sea.’ He said that during the next three to four days, the monsoon may continue to move forward in the sea. The Meteorological Department said that ‘some parts of the South Arabian Sea, Maldives and Komorin regions, the southern part of the Bay of Bengal, the entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the remaining parts of the Andaman and the central part of the Bay of Bengal are favorable to move forward during the next three to four days. According to the Meteorological Department, this year monsoon rains are expected to be ‘more’ than normal. The indication of the arrival of the monsoon before the time of Mrityunjay Mahapatra, the Director General of IMD, has recorded a minimum temperature in North India. The presence and strength of western winds at the lower atmospheric levels, the presence and strength of eastern winds at the upper atmospheric levels, thunder with thunder for about 40 days in the South Peninsula, pre-monsoon rains and remaining more pressure than normal on the northwest Pacific Ocean, all these are the major factors that indicate before the monsoon time. Madam, do not take it lightly… I earn more than an engineer! Sattu Wala’s swag on social media estimated more than normal rainfall, IMD chief said that all these factors are expected to come before the monsoon time in Kerala. The current wind condition indicates the strengthening of the monsoon winds. Both the Indian weather model and many other global weather models are unanimous, and the rain activity in Kerala is expected to increase in Kerala before 1 June, which is the normal beginning date of the monsoon. This year, the start of monsoon in these areas has been recorded in the last seven years. According to IMD, the general date for the onset of monsoon in South Andaman Sea is May 19, while the monsoon starts on 21 May in Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Since Monday, Nicobar Islands have recorded widespread, moderate to heavy rains at some places. Apart from this, widespread rainfall has continued on these islands during the last two days, which is an important criteria for the announcement of the onset of monsoon.
