Nagarwala Scandal: State Bank of India, 11 Parliament Street, New Delhi. The day 1971, 24th of May and Monday. Just 54 years ago, a bank scam was carried out in this bank, copying the voice of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which shook the country. The bank’s head cashier Ved Prakash Malhotra was sitting comfortably on his chair, suddenly the phone rang. As soon as Malhotra picked up the phone, the voice heard from the other side suddenly increased his heartbeat. He had been working in a bank job for 26 years, but had never received any such call before and he had no idea that this phone call would bring earthquake in his life.

Time was 11 to 45 minutes & hellip; Malhotra said Hello and the voice came from there, & lsquo; & lsquo; Mr. Haksar, Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, wants to talk to you. & Rsquo; & rsquo; Malhotra said, & lsquo; & lsquo; talk. & Rsquo; & rsquo; After this, the man who described himself as Haksar came on the line and told Malhotra, & lsquo; & lsquo; The Prime Minister of India needs Rs 60 lakh which is to be sent for some confidential work. She will send her man to you and you can give them that amount. & Rsquo; & rsquo;
Head cashier Malhotra questioned Huxar whether this amount would be given in exchange for any check or receipt. On this, he was told that this is a very important and confidential work. The Prime Minister has a similar order. The receipt or check will be given later.

After this, the so -called Huxar explained to Malhotra where and how to take the money. But Malhotra had never had to face such a situation before. He stuttered, & lsquo; & lsquo; This is a very difficult task. & Rsquo; & rsquo; To this Haksar said, & lsquo; & lsquo; So you should talk to Prime Minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi. & Rsquo; & rsquo; At the same moment, Malhotra heard a well-known voice on the phone, & lsquo; & lsquo; I am speaking Prime Minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi. & Rsquo; & rsquo;

Malhotra was now convinced that he was the Prime Minister of India on the other side on the phone. In the first chapter, it has been told how Malhotra along with his two junior cashier of the bank took out this amount from the bank’s strong room and reached the place mentioned in the trunk in the embodger car of the bank. In his statement recorded to the police, Malhotra later said, & lsquo; & lsquo; A long wide height-colored man who was wearing a light green hat, came towards me and said the code word and then said, let’s go."Text-Align: justify;"> The complaint was lodged at Chanakyapuri police station & nbsp;
According to Malhotra’s statement, after reaching the intersection of Panchsheel Marg, the man said that he has to catch the Air Force aircraft and from here he will go into the taxi. He told Malhotra, & lsquo; & lsquo; you go directly to the Prime Minister’s residence. She will meet you at one o’clock. & Rsquo; & rsquo;
Malhotra noted the number of the taxi on the rented DLT 1622 and sat in the ambassador and walked towards the Prime Minister’s residence. Now he had to take a receipt from the Prime Minister. In this book, the Nagarwala scandal has been illuminated with different angles.
A complaint was lodged at Chanakyapuri police station as soon as the forgery was detected and SHO Haridev immediately caught Nagarwala from Delhi Airport. Later, Nagarwala was sentenced to four years but died of a sudden heart attack in Tihar Jail. After some time investigating officer DK Kashyap was also killed.
