Measles is a highly infectious virus, which can survive for two hours in the air. It spreads through cough, sneezing or breath and there is a possibility of spreading up to 90% in people without vaccination.

Measles can be a dangerous epidemic
Measles is not a simple disease. It can cause pneumonia, brain inflammation (encephalitis), deafness, and death in severe cases. Especially in infants, pregnant women and people with weaker immune systems. Measles symptoms include high fever, cough, nose, red and water eyes, and rash, which usually appear 3-5 days after the onset of fever. Health officials have warned that those who were in the concert should monitor the symptoms by 6 June 2025, as the incubation period of measles can be up to 21 days. In 2025, more than 1,000 measles cases have been reported in the US, which is the biggest outbreak in the last 25 years. 96% of these cases are among those who were not either vaccine or there was no information about it.

This was a second measles related incident in New Jersey. Earlier on May 12, a passenger was reported to be infected with measles in Terminal B of Newark Liberty International Airport. Measles cases are increasing across America, especially in areas where the rate of vaccination is low. For example, West Texas has a major outbreak with 722 cases, in which two children have died.
