Grap-1 DOS DON’T: Grap-1 has been applied today in view of increasing air pollution in Delhi-NCR. Steps are taken under the Emergency throughout Delhi-NCR to reduce pollution through Grad i.e. Grid Response Action Plan. The Commission of Air Quality Index Management i.e. CAQM takes a decision with this. Currently, Grap-1 has been implemented in other cities of NCR including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad including Delhi. What is Grap? Gradedated Response Action Plan (Grap) Delhi-NCR is an emergency remedy to deal with air pollution, which was notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in 2017. This is applied in four stages, which are based on the level of Air Quality Index (AQI): Phase 1 (POOR): AQI 201-300 Charan 2 (Very POOR): AQI 301-400 Charan 3 (Severe): AQI 401-450 Charan 4 (Severe Plus): AQI 450 Grap-1 will be done under more than 450 Grap-10. Water spraying. Dust control measures at construction sites. Proper management of waste and ban on burning garbage in the open. Strict investigation of pollution vehicles. Improvement in traffic management. Emission control in industries, power plants and brick kilns. Ban on the use of coal or wood in restaurants. Limited restrictions on the use of diesel generators (allow only emergency use). Citizens are appealed to using public transport, less use of private vehicles and avoid dust -causing activities. How was AQI level in the last four days? 13 May 2025: The average AQI was about 140 (poor). 14 May 2025: The average AQI was around 155 (unhealthy). 15 May 2025: Average AQI 194 (unhealthy) was recorded. 16 May 2025: The average AQI was 257 (poor), which falls in the ‘bad’ category (201-300). When did Grap-1 last? Grap-1 was last implemented in October 2024, when AQI 224 (poor) was recorded. Grap-3 was removed in February 2025 and measures for Grap-1 and Grap-2 were continued.
