‘Balochistan Republic’ echoed in social media, Baloch announced independence

Amidst the current tension between India and Pakistan, the ‘Republic of Balochistan’ started trending on the social media platform X on Wednesday. Supporters of Balochistan’s independence have also shared a map of Azad Balochistan on social media. Whereas a few days ago, many Baloch leaders including Balochistan’s independence activist Mir Yar Baloch announced the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan. Social media users shared an Azad Balochistan map, as well as videos of people waving the flag of Balochistan. In an X post on 9 May, Mir Yar Baloch wrote that ‘a possible announcement should be made soon due to the collapse of the terrorist Pakistan. We have claimed our independence and we request India to allow the official office and embassy of Balochistan in Delhi. He also urged the United Nations to support it and call a meeting of members of the United Nations. He said that ‘We also request the United Nations to call a meeting of all the members of the United Nations to recognize the independence of the Balochistan Democratic Republic and give their support for recognition.
