The government has found some security flaws in WhatsApp, taking advantage of which hackers can steal your personal data. Due to these flaws, your account can also be hacked. The government has advised users to update their Whatsapp immediately. These flaws have been fixed in the new update. Apart from this, users have been advised to avoid clicking on any suspicious link. If an unknown person sends a message to you, then ignore it and block it immediately. The biggest conclusion of this safety alert is that if hackers succeed in taking advantage of weaknesses, then WhatsApp users may have to face spoofing attacks. The CERT-in note states, “This weakness is caused by wrong configurations between mime type and file extension, causing disturbances in opening attachment. An attacker can take a dangerous attachment by taking advantage of this weakness, which can run arbitrary code on the main way when opening manually in WhatsApp. On the Whatsapp Desktop apps, the agency says that the versions before the 2.2450.6 of the WhatsApp for Windows are sensitive to these spuffy attacks.
