The issue of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Fake arose in the Supreme Court on Friday (May 16, 2025). In a petition, the court paid attention to the lack of adequate legal system about them. A bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh described the matter as important. However, the judges asked the petitioner to go to the Delhi High Court, saying that the subject is already being heard there. The petitioner also referred to the formation of deep fake video of Colonel Sophia Qureshi, who emerged as the face of the army in ‘Operation Sindoor’. On this, the judges said that you can keep your words in the High Court. When we asked you to go there, there is no need to raise these things here. If we start hearing here, the High Court will stop the hearing. A lot is already being done there. In the petition filed on behalf of a lawyer named Narendra Goswami, it was demanded that AI and deep fake content should be done water marking. This will allow people to recognize him. There was a system of removing the wrong content within 24 hours. The provisions of the Information Technology Act should be fully implemented. There is also a clear rules regarding the use of AI video in the election too.
