A statement on Pahalgam terror attack was heavy, AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam imposed NSA, taken into custody

Aminul Islam, MLA from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) to comment on Pahalgam terror attack, was detained on Wednesday (May 14, 2025) under the provisions of the National Security Act (NSA). However, on the same day, he also got bail from the court. The police confirmed this on Thursday (May 15, 2025). Earlier, AIUDF MLA Islam in Nagaon district was arrested on April 24, 2025 for his comments at the Panchayat elections rally two days after the Pahalgam attack. Nagaon’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Swapninil Deka said, “Islam was granted bail by the court on Wednesday, but he was detained under the NSA as it was felt that his release could create security issues due to his previous records.” The District Magistrate’s order was detained and said that Islam was detained following the order of Nagaon District Magistrate Narendra Kumar Shah, cited by police reports and said that the MLAs were involved in public system and harmful activities for the state’s security. He was then detained under Section 3 (2) of NSA. Deka said, “MLAs are currently lodged in Nagaon Central Jail. Detention is reviewed every three months under the provisions of NSA and can be kept in custody for a year.” What did the Assam Police say?
