So many people will sleepless … In which case the Supreme Court said

Date:

New Delhi. The Supreme Court has said that nowadays people are not ready to stand for the truth due to the deteriorating character of the society. Along with this, the apex court asked the Maharashtra government why it is dependent on a large number of witnesses for oral testimony in the 2017 Bhiwandi councilor murder case. Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh’s bench was hearing the bail plea of Prashant Bhaskar Mhatre, the alleged chief conspirator of the Congress councilor murder case. The bench directed the state counsel to submit a list of important witnesses, which could be investigated and proved the accused in the case. When the state government’s counsel said that he needs to interrogate 75 witnesses out of the 200 witnesses mentioned in the charge sheet, the bench said, “Nowadays people are not ready to stand for the truth due to the deteriorating character of the society. Why are you trusting the testimony of so many witnesses? Yes, there is a danger of pressure on the witnesses by the gangsters who reversed their statements in this country later. Not there.” The bench said that after the state government submits a list of important witnesses in the case, it will decide the time limit to complete the case rapidly. The state government counsel said that during the hearing of the bail plea by the Bombay High Court, the prosecution investigated 14 witnesses, out of which 10 were retracted. The bench asked the lawyer about the criminal history of Mhatre, on which he said that more than 12 cases were registered against the accused. Mhatre’s lawyer said that he has been acquitted in several cases registered against him and urged the court to bail him as he has been in jail since 2017. The bench told Mhatre’s lawyer, “Do not expect any miracle from here. We want your trial to speed up. We want peace in the society. If you come out of jail, many people will be sleepy nights.” Justice Kant said that the court is not monitoring the case technically, but is supervising it so that the hearing in the case can be expedited. On February 7, the Bombay High Court dismissed Mhatre’s bail plea, saying, “… The confession of all the accused indicates that the said applicant can be called the main conspirator in the current case.” According to the FIR, Manoj Mhatre, who was a councilor from the Congress party three times in the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation, was attacked with guns and sharp weapons on 14 February 2017. He was seriously injured on the spot. The FIR lodged by Manoj’s driver states that the accused ran away from the spot after the attack. The police later arrested the victim’s brother’s brother Prashant Bhaskar Mhatre and seven others in the case.
